Who's had a XD trigger job?

This thread: Factory pull on XD

got me thinking and considering one.

Who's had a trigger job done on their XD and why?

Was it worth the money?

Unless you prefer long and heavy triggers that include both major overtravel a long reset, a trigger job on your XD is required.

Send a message via MSN to Bycyclist
or spend a couple of thousand rounds smoothing it out, but I don't think that does anything to the loooooong travel.

I prefer to just have Springer or Canyon sort that out and save me some learning the gun curve time.

At $100 /1000 rounds on the lowend, you are best to send your gun to someone who can make it perfect. A trigger kit is another option, if you feel you are up to the task.

I know that 1300 people have done it with our sear this year.

Most people do it for the reduced travel and reset, and competition shooters go for a light weight also.

is it a good idea to get the trigger job done on a carry piece? i was doing some dryfire practice today and noticed, well was reminded of the LOOOOOOOOOONG travel. takes a week to reach the break point on the trigger. but this will be my primary carry gun, the 45 service, and i was wondering if i should get the trigger cleaned up and shorten the travel.

I bought my 9mm service with a CanyonCreek trigger job already done. Totally different feel compared to stock. (Didn't tell my GLOCKEN buddies about the trigger work. Just said it was stock )

I think there was a whole thread devoted to that issue. IMHO, any defense gun should have all stock springs (full pull weight) but can have the action smoothed. Any modifcations which lighten the pull and/or reduce the distance the trigger moves to fire MIGHT make you liable for a civil judgement for using an "unsafe" gun in a shooting.

Research on shooters under extreme stress (even well trained ones) indicates this is a good thing for preventing AD's.
