XD merchant to avoid

While most of the merchants I have dealt with online have been great people, every once in a while you run into a 'take the money and run' guy.

i pass this info on so other people won't get burned like i have been. the guy in question is:

www.GunnerSupply.com
Michael's Marine Mart & Sporting Goods

be careful if you do business with him. he took my money and never filled the order, and has not responded to any of my polite inquiries (4) as to where my merchandise is.

my policy has always been to do business only with merchants who accept American Express, since they are quite effective in resolving disputes such as these. Unfortunately, i broke my policy and got burned.

caveat emptor!

Me too!

Ggruber,

I am sorry to hear that your money was taken from this unworthy businessman (a term which he doesn't deserve accredited to his name). He didn't get away with my money, but here's my story:

I, too, placed an order for a Don's Guide Rod (and spring) with this website. Be weary of paying online with a credit card! The payment page is a NON-SECURE page. I chose the option to "call in payment" by phone.

Sure enough, the day after I placed the order, I called the number on the website to give him my credit card info. His father picked up, took down my contact info, and told me that Mike would be back in 4 hours and would call me right back. Never heard from him that day. I sent him a polite email the next day asking him to call me and get my payment info so that i could have my DRG sent out asap. He never contacted me. A week later, I call and leave another message on the answering machine, a polite message. A day or two after that, I write him the following email:

"Dear Mike,
It has been more than one week since I placed the order below. In that time, I have made several attempts to deliver my payment information to you including leaving a message with your father, leaving a voicemail message, and an email. All of my attempts have gone unanswered despite leaving my contact information available for you. I am emailing you to inform you that I am CANCELING the order below, and will be ordering the item from another company.

Sincerely,
xxxxxxxxxxxx"

All in all, I believe 9 days passed from the time I placed the order, to the time I sent this email canceling the order.

I ended up ordering the DRG/spring from Pistolgear.com. Although it cost a few dollars more, I had no problems whatsoever, and I received the item 4-5 days later.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience There are a number of great businesses that sponsor this very forum. You won't ever have a problem with them. pistolgear.com and springerprecision.com are 2 that I have dealt with and received excellent service.

Don't email him again. Call him. His phone number is right on his website...
  • 850-584-3953
  • (fax) 866-803-9249
  • Mike@GunnerSupply.com
Inform him that he has 24 hours to refund your money or you will file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have had to get the BBB involved in a transaction once before and they got it resolved very quickly.
