I have had two people, other than friends comment. The first one went
"Is that a gun?"
"Yes"
"Cool"
Then I did have a cop in a store ask what I was carrying. He then basically showed symtoms of having drunk the Glock Kool-Aide. He did not even ask to see my permit.
I was totally convinced I was going to cause a riot the first time though. I went to a pizza place and was literally surrounded by actual soccer moms. About two minutes after we sat down an entire kids soccer team came in. No one noticed or no one cared, one or the other.

Going to Wal-Mart must be a "rite of passage" for people who just got a CHP. I think everyone does that.

Well I get my permit in less than a month and I've been contemplating how long it would take me to actually conceal. When I think back on times being in a store (any store) I think about how most everyone is in their own little world and could really care less about just another person passing by. Let alone scanning them for a hidden pistol. I've been in various martial arts through the years. This made me very aware of my surroundings. However I've been out of practice and I get mad at myself when I realize how spacey or self absorbed I've been. Seeing how it effects how little I pay attention to people around me I recognize the need to get back into some good, old habits.

With all of the gadgets that people now carry (cellphones, Blackberry, Leatherman, etc.) no one is likely to give it a second thought.

Congrats. Now you are a real man... or woman. Who can tell on the internet anymore?
