Thanks for the report. Hopefully others will give theirs a test and report their results also.

I tried it again and was able to get it to fire. I had to really squeeze the trigger but I could get it to fire after the grip safety was despressed. The force required was harder than the pressure required to normally press the trigger.

I don't believe that was the point. Pull and hold the trigger with the grip safety off and then push the grip safety. (I've not tried it myself, but I believe this is what is being described.)

I keep my finger out of the trigger guard and place my thumb on the back of the slide (actually on the striker status indicator) and I have no worries.

XD9 Service: Pulling the trigger and then hitting the grip safety most certainly fires mine off. If you take the slide of and just look at what the grip safety does, I really can't see how it wouldn't work.

Ok, It appears that everyones works the same as mine. Which brings me back to the original point. Even if you carefully avoid the grip safety when holstering you still need to make sure clothing or some other obstruction is not activating the trigger before you allow anything to touch the grip safety. I have had the tail of my overshirt catch in the holster when holstering. Since I kept my hand off the grip safety and drew the weapon out again to clear the shirt tail, we'll never know for sure if the trigger was depressed by the shirt tail. And that is a good thing I have gotten into the habit of moving my over shirt back, as if I were getting ready to draw, immediately after holstering, to make sure it is free from the holster. I then use the grip to move the point of aim safely away from my leg and foot and depress the grip safety.(much harder when IWB) If the trigger is stuck I would rather have ND in that condition than later when I wasn't expecting it and happened to bump the grip safety.

I have kinda been watching a lot of you guys describing how you push down on the slide/striker indicator with your thumb in reholstering. It occurs to me that if one of the rules of gun safety is not to put anything in front of the muzzle that you aren't prepared to destroy... since the gun might unexpectedly fire and destroy whatever is in front of it... why would you put something behind the slide???
Seems like the same deal to me. If the gun fires unexpectedly, that slide is going to come back with terrific force. If you have some body part back there, you are going to bust it up pretty bad. Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems like a bad idea to put anything in front of or behind the slide.
