Melonite finish
when did SA put the melonite finish on the XD's?

He said when, not why. I've heard more people than not, say they haven't had any rust problems with the older models. Me included. But SA wouldn't have changed it unless they didn't receive enough returns, complaints or guns sent in for repair.
jsmith. I think it was May 06'. I forget now but if you do a search you'll find the date. If you are asking because you want to know if your gun has the melonite finish just call SA, give them your guns serial# and they can tell you plus answer your first question. ~Moe
