I found a LEA that issues the XD

The Adams County Animal enforcement officers are issued 4" XD45s. They work out of the SPCA. This is Pennsylvania.

I thought it was cool. It's the first one I've heard of that issued XDs.

While neat that an Agency is issued XD,s I don't think "Cops" working for the SPCA should be allowed to open carry. Isn't the SPCA a company and not a governmental agency?

They go into houses with animal violations and neglect and take the animals. They also bring charges against the pet owners. I assume to have that authority, they would have to be "cops". Maybe they are more like constables.

Well if their anything like the officers on "Animal Cops" on Animal Planet. We're talking about something like less than 10 officers for a whole city that investigate thousands of animal cruelty crimes per year. These guys have the authority to arrest people who have committed an animal cruelty offense and bring them to the cops. I don't know...do they need guns (just in case) to arrest someone and bring them to jail?

Awesome! Glad to see the XD becoming popular with local agencies.

But...

Since when do animals have legal representation!?
Perhaps we should change the Constitution to read "We the inhabitants," instead of "We the people?"

I can't wait for the day that someone's Golden Retriever gets my job because of Affirmative Action. In that case, I'll become a judge and get my revenge on dogs in traffic court for littering sidewalks. Of course there will always be that one privileged dog that can afford the next Johnnie Cochran...

I know of 2 LEA in PA that use XDs, one the .45 and the other .357 Sig.

There is a third going to the .45, but they re waiting on funding from what I am told.

Oh, my tinfoil hat prevents me from naming them.....

Is it truly the "SPCA" or the local animal control authority? Most of those are sheriff's deputies or actual police officers within a jurisdiction. there's different nomenclature and definitions in every town/state/county.

but that IS cool. +1 for the XD!

Well people like PETA would go for that. I wouldn't be surprised that if in our lifetime, PETA would try to get animals the right to vote.

Here in Hampton/Newport News, Va. the SPCA officers have the same powers as an LEO. They are swarn in peace officers that are uniformed and carry handguns, a shotgun, cuffs.packed out just like the city cops....
