Where to buy Don's Guide Rod?
Well I finally decide to order one of Don's guide rods for my XD-9 and PistolGear is sold out. What timing. Does anyone else sell them?

Just curious... Would the one for the .45 Service work in the .45 Compact? The slides seem to be the same size... Then again, I should probably just go and buy the Tactical and get it overwith, right?

Don does not have a guide rod for the 4" captured spring XD45 models, either Service or Compact. I think, for the moment, you only have the factory rod/spring set up for the 4" models.
I do have Don's fat guide rod for the 5" XD45 (mine is Compact grip, but it will work with the full sized grip Tactical model too).

Here's another option
I bought a stainless steel guiderod for my CZ P-01 frm Steve Bedair a couple days after I bought the gun. Steve's guiderod fit the P-01 down to the millemeter and the guiderod was in my mailbox the third day after doing the online order.
I see on his web page that he doesn't do XD guiderods as standard yet but if you go to the bottom of the page, he has a custom rod page. By reading the page it appears he will do the custom rods for $25 non-captive and $35 for captive. You have to send in your factory rod. I'd bet that he has not had an XD request yet or he would have then offered so if someone has one done, maybe we can get Steve to add them to his normal stock. For sure XD's are popular enough. It's worth shooting him an email if you need a second option. Steve is fantastic to work with and I recommend him. http://guiderod.com/ Here are some pics of my CZ P-01 with Steve Bedair's guide rod showing at the muzzle: Family picture, 2 XD's and a CZ

The problem with the .45 Service is spring choice, rather than a rod. I have not been happy with any springs so far, and others seem to have the same issues. I think that it can be solved, but springs are not something that I have wanted to custom make.

As Don stated, the lack of Rods for the 45ACP Service/Compact is not an issue of demand but a lack of springs. It is the same reason why Rich has stopped on the Tungsten rods.
