New XD9 service shooting low / slide lock issue

I got another new XD9 service and it seems to be shooting a bit low. Windage looks good, just 2 to 3 inches low when about 15 yards away. Any advice? It has been about 4 months since I shot an XD.

Also, my slide was not locking back a few times at first after the last shot. It may have needed a few break in shots... not sure. I didn't notice if my thumb was on the slide release, so that could have been it.

I cant help you with anything :P But I have also been having problems with my slide not locking to the rear on my XD 9 and i have only a couple hundred rounds out of it. My friends XD 9 too was having problems with the same thing, well atleast when i shot it. I dont know if im pushing/pulling on the mag with my grip or hitting the slide release.

Seems to be common with new XD shooters to have their thumb resting on the slide release, so it is probably that. Not for sure, just take a good look at your grip.

As with it shooting low, have you tried shooting it from a benchrest to make sure it isn't you?

Just wondering.

Shooting my new XD-9 for the first time yesterday it seemed to shoot a bit low as well. I was aiming a bit above the bullseye.

You guys don't have to buy your gun a fur coat or diamonds? LOL ( well I could make mine a fur coat and it wouldn't cost much, but forget the diamonds!)

Hey I have the same problem, can't shoot worth a damn at even 25 feet. No problems with the slide not locking back, though had 2 ftf issues my first time out after buying it, only put 24 rounds through, but was some mexican junk ammo I think, didn't have a problem with 100 rounds of the white box winchester. I have the .40 service model.

Get some snap caps and load them at random in a magazine with live ammo. Do not keep track of the order. Now when you shoot and the round does not go off you will see what you are really doing when you pull the trigger.
You will probably be embarrassed (I was).

I was having a slightly different slide lock problem. On some shot the slide would lock open with rounds still in the mag. I had the RSO watch me shoot until it happened again. He confirmed what I thought might be happening. My right thumb (on the left side of the gun) was hitting the slide lock with the right timing to cause the slide to lock open. I just modified my grip a little and the problem was corrected.

I had the same issue with the slide, and it's 99% your grip. It doesn't take much pressure on the slide lock to keep it from locking in place. When I first purchased my XD, everyone told me it was a 6 o'clock aim. With mine, it hits where I aim. I'm sure that it's different for each operator, but that's my $.02. As of right now, I have about 5,000 rounds through my 4" service 9mm.

I have been checking my grip and my thumb is no where near the slide release. Maybe the sping is a little tight and needs some break in.
