I just purchased the XD 40 Tactical Kit. However, I'm concerned after practicing dry firing.
I was under the impression that the XD 40's could be reload by pressing down on the slide lock (where you dont have to cock back and hold slide stop down to reload). My XD 40 will not allow me to do this, only cock back while holding the slide stop down, is this on all xd 40's? Also, the mag release button is very hard to eject a loaded mag, I have to literally press the button in with all my might to get the mag to release, is this normal? Finally, when I do cock the slide back, it seems pretty hard to do where I have to use full force. I've cocked back slides on Berreta's and Glocks before with much less force needed, is this normal? This weapon was bought NEW, I have not live fired it yet. I was wondering if the gun needed to be re-oiled on the slide, mag release button, and the slide stop function? Or is this how it is for all? Thanks! |

i could just be dumb but im not really sure what your saying here also the mag release lightens up but it is alot harder when the mag is full and the slide is forward with a embty mag or the slide locked back which is when you would change it it is pretty light |

It's probably just extremely stiff because it's brand new. I had to press down REALLY hard to use it when my XD-40 was new -- it'll loosen up over time.

Well, I thought once you fire your weapon the gun will cock back open, you load a new mag and press down on the slide release which autmatically loads and cocks the weapon. What I'm saying, is that my weapon will not do this when the gun is cocked back and open, when I press down the slide stop, nothing happeneds, I have to place my hand on the rear slide, hold back and whiling holding back on the slide, press down on the slide release. |

Wow I just kept re-cocking, and I'm now able to use the slide to auto load/cock as I wanted. I just hope the mag release is the same thing, just needs to be broken in ?

Yes, the mag release will be especially tough with a fully loaded mag, but that'll clear up as the mag springs loosen and the mag release breaks in.

Is there any way to loosen up the slide stop and mag release? Can I slightly lube it?

you can lube it if you want snapaw, not more than a drop though.rub down the mag and the inside of the magwell real good w/a silicon cloth this may also help, but time will do the most good.
