Awesome thanks for the input. I've been walking around the house using an empty gun and aiming at various things... I think it works best if I tilt my head a bit to the right. Going out Sunday so I'll test that out with actual shooting and see how it goes.

"an ex wife's picture would be a good choice" - Sunday I'm taking some champagne glasses from the wedding out as target practice, lol. Good call!

Both methods are commonly used. Focusing on the target with both eyes open viewing the sight line in the dom eye is called "target focus" or "indirect sighting" (it is referenced by Plaxco in his book: "Shooting From Within"). It is best to learn this first so your brain will default to it in a life threatening situation.

Compare field of view with one eye closed (focusing on the front sight) and both eyes open focusing on the target. You will see why the latter can save your life if it is your baseline skill.

Front sight, front sight, front sight. I am also one that is right handed and mildly left eye dominant. I shoot from an isocoles stance with both eyes open. I've tried turning my head towards the right, indexing my chin on my shoulder and/or tilting my head over to the right. What works best for me is simply tilting my head a little to the right. I don't have to move my head near as far and I don't seem to lose as much peripherial vision. I'm guessing but to me it drops the right eye to a different plane of focus. The right eye can't see the front sight and take over but can still see the target. Back to stance. I "feel" better shooting Weaver/Chapman but I actually shoot better isocoles.
