when lubing, as someone mentioned already...lube is both good and bad. if not enough you have unwanted friction...but if to much you get dirt build up (gunk). hope this helps.
thanks for the pics!

Those aluminum or whatever they're made of sliding blocks don't take lube very well, not porous like the steel seems to be.

thats just ... great. thanks brotha!!!

question: is it bad for lube to get into the striker pin? it gets annoying when im dry firing and some CLP or lube flies out onto the top of the slide and i have to wipe it off again

yeah...i would avoid letting any kind of liquid get in there, especially lube. what it does it collect dust. the built up lube sticks to dirt and dust and could lead to a failure to fire with enough build up. my suggestion is every month or so just dis-assemble the firing pin assembly and wipe it out. this gets excess lube and dirt out of there.

heres a link that goes through step by step of dis-assembling the entire gun.

http://www.xd-hs2000.com/disassembly/disassembly.html

view "slide disassembly" and thatl walk you through.

lube everything (except NEVER in the firing pin channel
Where does this come from? And people wonder why the XD has a rust "problem". ALL metal parts should have a thin layer of oil on them to protect from corrosion. Moving parts (look for wear marks as another poster said) should have a heavier amount of lube for wear protection.

If one is really worried about gumming up the striker, simply spray some brake cleaner in there once in while to clean it out. Always be sure to re-lube. I would also recommend Weapon Shield, FP10, or Slip 2000 for lube since they are true CLPs that will keep the dirt in suspension while you fire. Makes cleaning easy.

I was going to ask basically the same ?, I've always used a drop or 2 of oil in the firing pin channel.

Do you not consider Break-free a true CLP?

I've been reading a lot of good things about Mil-spec1 I think it's called. Going to try some of that.
