Cross Ship ??
I've got a question concerning when people do a gun trade deal over the internet. Do you normally have the person offering to make a trade send their gun first as payment for yours and then you ship your gun or do you cross ship ?

You would both have to send the guns from FFL to FFL if the trade was across state lines. If you both reside in the same state, you can trade without an FFL face to face....with long guns only. I think you're wondering if you (as the person that initiated the trade) should wait for the other gun to arrive before shipping yours in return. If that is the case, I would wait before sending yours in order to inspect the gun you're receiving first. Make sure you get as much info. and pics beforehand. Knowing the person (or having positive feedback from others) is also a plus.

Residents of the same state can buy, sell or trade anything they want, face to face, unless some state has their own state law preventing that and Texas doesn't.

Etiquette would dictate that the person initiating the trade would send the weapon offered first, with some sort of deposit in case it wasn't returned. It's harder when you don't do it FTF, you have no recourse. The only other option is to try and work it out through the FFL holder, where he/she takes a deposit on your behalf, or inspects the weapon for you. Either way, I would make sure that there were written appraisals for both parties, and that all issues/damage (if any) be disclosed in advance.
Personally, I wouldn't do it unless it were FTF. Just my two cents...
