XD's - what MAJOR issues have you had to ship back to SA for?
I'm looking to find out what issues you would consider "MAJOR" that you had to ship your XD back to Springfield for?
I'm not talking about minor things such as a broken magazine release, I'm talking about KB's (which I just read about here on the forum), V-10 ported slide/barrel issues, RUST - stuff like that! Thank you so much for endulging me !

Well I wouldn't consider the KB an issue with the gun but more of a user error in reloading.
I know you didn't specify but I just wanted to make sure people know the KM was from a possible double charge. |

Sent back my XD9 today for a chipped locking block. Will let you know how Springfield's service treats me.

I experienced FTE's with my XD9 Tac. When it first happened, I thought it was a fluke but it was getting progressively worse happening about 1 in every 100 and eventually 3-4 in every hundred. I had to get in touch with Springfield and they took care of it really fast. I had my gun back in 3 days total
It turned out to be the extractor. They seemed to do something that would prevent it from flexing as easily as it used to. The extra flex must have been allowing the extractor to slip off the case. Glad to have that kind of customer service behind a gun. (still wish they would release parts though BTW, not one single problem since they fixed it. |

With factory-reloaded Zero brand ammo (JHP 115gr), I had a few failures to extract - the casing would lodge between the barrel, the round below it, and the breechface, if I remember correctly.
1200 rounds of Blazer (Aluminum) 115gr FMJ with only one fail to fire (dud). 20 rounds of 147gr hydrashock w/o issue. XD-9 Service. |

Acquired 45ACP Service bi-tone in May '06 and a 9mm Service black in July '06. Both have many thousands of round through them and neither have had to go to Springfield. (or anywhere else for that matter)
I find them to be of good quality and reliability.

Nope,
A couple problems with the slide locking open mid-mag, that was my grip being too loose/close to the slide lock lever. A couple FTF, where the spent shell ejected, but the next round didn't chamber completely, cleaned my mags that seemed to be the problem. This was in the course of a couple thousand rounds through a SC40. I did have one question about the spring assembly, because the outer spring could be slid off the rod, and when I emailed SA, they asked for a round count, and shipped me a replacement guide rod assembly that got here in 2 days. I have had nothing but confidence in this gun since I got it, and it shoots beatifully, even for a sub-compact. Every experience I have had, or heard about with SA service has also been surprisingly good. Not too often you get good service from a support line these days.
