Bore cleaner on the whole gun?

I might be a little OCD while cleaning my guns. Would it be a good idea to use some hoppes elite on my whole gun? I used it on the bore and it worked great. Any comments?

Clean away! It won't hurt a thing.

Yep, just be careful around the sights (if you have stock ones). I discovered that it'll take the white off (which was good, since I had a bit of extra outside the dot).

SWEET. I seriously am OCD though. I use to detail strip my glock after every range session and clean for hours. Im not as bad now though, but I still spend at least 1 hour per gun. three hours total. What about Outers bore foam? any harm in that? it says on the directions to oil the bore after use? why is that?

Some cleaners, like Blue Wonder, chemically remove and strip everything down to the bare metal. Outers may do the same. I have not used it. If you don't treat the metal aferwards, well, we all know what happens to bare metal. Rust!

Ditto, but honestly leave the bore cleaner to the bore, and use CLP everywhere else. It smells less, does as good a job, and actually protects the metal on the same pass. IMO.

+1 per your write up in another cleaning thread.

for the frame exterior i use a rag with excess CLP on it.

also, is it bad to lube the springs/moving parts after every shooting?

If you clean your bore with bore cleaner after every sesion, you aren't going to need foaming bore cleaner. But they tell you to oil the bore afterwards in order to displace any solvent/ammonia so that it doesn't eat away at the bore while you store the gun. That's my speculation.

No, not bad! Lube is never bad, but don't use too much as it will make a mess. A drop on each main group is all you need. (Striker assembly, trigger assembly, barrel lockup assembly). Plus a drop or two along the slide rails, work it in, the wipe the exterior. Every once in a while put a drop in the mag release assembly.

I rub TetraGun grease into all the wear surfaces after I clean, but then I'm a big geek too, so...

but before you shoot again you have to wipe away the excess oil in the barrel and feed ramp, correct?
