new Xd-40 question

New 5" model. Noticed that I can retract the slide about 3/4" of an inch with the grip safety disengaged, unloaded. Barrel and slide breechface are apart about 1/2" at this point. No further slide movement is possible at this point. Pistol seems to be functioning normally in all other aspects.

Is this within normal limits?

Thumbs up

I think it's normal. My "new" (Bought it on Monday of this past week, 100 rounds through it.) XD-40 Service model does the same thing! I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.

Enjoy your new XD

i have a hs40 tactical 5" barrel and it's normal as long as you don't have any problem racking the slide to put a bullet inside the barrel or manually opening it to slide lock. try using a dummy round and rack, fire and eject inorder to check if everything is a o k
