I used to own a High Point and there is no comprison to an XD. The High Points are made in Ohio and they are relatively cheap firearms.

Man I can't believe how unfortunate you were to run into the only guy at a gunshow who does not know what he is talking about!
ExSniper, I forgot to mention the guy who, when I asked if he had a speed loader for my new Ruger MK III, he said sure, it's $4. I looked at the package and noted it was checked for Ruger MK I and MK II, not MK III.

I pointed that out and told him the mags were different. He said they weren't and it would fit. Well, since my thumb would hurt like hell every time I loaded all 4 mags, I thought ok, he knows what he is talking about.

Sure wish I'd brought my mag with me. When I got home I tried it (HKS Product). I was able to get it on, but couldn't take it off. I had to use a screwdriver and hammer and tap it off. Didn't damage either the mag or speed loader.

I contacted HKS and they told me they don't make one for mine. They said send it to them and they would refund my $4 since I won't see that guy at the gun show until I return next year. Ruger doesn't even make one, which is really stupid I think.

I always read Hipoint threads cause they are so funny. I own XD9, I love it and it's been flawless through 1000+ rounds. I own a 9MM and 40S&W HP and both have been flawless through 1500 rounds now. So has my 995 carbine.

It's funny how folks who've never shot one bust on them, or knows some one who knows some one. Show me a gun that doesn't jam or have issues from time to time and I'll call BS with my eyes closed and my hands behind my back.

No need to be gun snobs boys (and girls). It's a different product, a different price point and serves a purpose. Calling it a POS..... well, that's just foolish.

I've heard many times that parts break left and right on Hi-Points. Luckally they provide a lifetime warranty because you are really going to need it. No matter what anyone might try to say...you always get what you pay for. You pay $140 for a gun, you're going to get a gun that's worth $140. Ask yourself how much workmanship goes into a gun that in all likelyhood costs about $30 to manufacture. Now that's a gun I wouldn't bet my life on. Having said that, and having only fired one once (as I don't need to step in a POS to know it's a POS) I feel very comfortable calling it a big stanky POS.

you feel comfortable calling it a POS, only firing one once, never owning one. Good thing you don't form opinions any faster you might hurt yourself.

$30 to make? I wonder........ take away the name XD, and the shipping costs, and the import duties, and the dealer's mark up, I wonder how much our XD's would cost? And if they are designed to be made in CNC and automated equipment, might that account for the cost? Then there's that darn supply and demand thing and the fact that folks like me and you would actually pay $500 for a gun.

No, an HP is not an XD, never said it was. For those who can't afford a $500 XD and can protect themselves with a $140 HP, I say go for it. While you'd be saving up for the XD, I'd be sleeping better at night - having known I've almost 3 times the rounds through my HP's than you've done through your XD - with no issues.

In a few keystrokes I can find all sorts of bad on XD's on this very forum - they must be a POS. Nuf said.

I must be a thug. I'm gangsta...because I think my Hi-Point is great.

In fact...it's taken 0 trips back to the factory....ask me how many times my XD-40SC went back.

But I digress....clearly these two guns are not made by the same company.
