My M&P9's trigger is about as crisp as any XD tho
Some just don't like the plastic, some prefer metal, it's all a matter of personal choice. As long as you like what you have, and feel that it is reliable and safe enough to defend your life if you choose to carry it... that is all up to you.

XD vs M&P? I went with the XD9 for my $0.02

For what its worth, one of the guys in the rifle class I was teaching today was using an M&P and it locked up during transition drills. I was watching him shoot and it looked like he limp wristed it a bit (not suprising since we were doing one handed transitions) and the gun locked open. The slide lock was down but the gun is locked open. I found no way of fixing it on the range and referred him to a couple of smith armorers.

He said he had less than 300 rounds through it. I am definitely anxious to see what the problem was.

I have both. XD9 was the first handgun I ever bought in April of 2002. It has functioned flawlessly and was my favorite until I picked up the MP45 this year. I liked the MP45 so much that I picked up the MP40c. The free range bag and mag promos were added value.

The main reason why I had not purchased anymore XD's is because of Springfield not releasing some spare parts. MP parts can be bought from S&W directly or from places like Brownell's and Midway.

FWIW, S&W pays shipping both ways if the gun has to go in.

Never thought I'd own a S&W pistol until the MP series. Wish the MP had the same ambidexrous mag release as the XD; MP is only reversible.
