Re-coating the barrel?

So I stripped the barrel on my subcompact XD quiet a while ago. Sanded it down with some fine grit, and polished it. Pics from when I did it:

Well I'm kinda bummed I did it now. I look at the pics from before I did it, and I like the coated look more.

So the question is, can I get it recoated? And who can do it? I dont really want to wait on springfield, though if thier quality is the best, I might just do that. Any suggestions on where to have it done?

BTW, I'll ship just the barrel, to avoid any shipping issues.

Thanks in advance,

Justin

Looks good, don't spend the money. Buy ammo instead.

Eh, I'd rather have it re-coated. I have plenty of ammo.

Try a cold blue on the barrel it'll make a cool DIY project. Here's a link to a bluing the barrel thread.

You're the first person I know of that didn't like the look of their polished barrel.
All of mine are polished, (of course) and I wouldn't want them any other way.

You can have it recoated, but it will quickly show the typical wear streaks that any coated barrel does.

I think you'll want to have the barrel glass bead blasted before recoating, so the coat will adhere better.

If your going to use something like duracoat, moly resin they don't advise you bead blast, it doesn't give you the rough texture needed for the paint to grab on to. Sandblast or use an aluminum oxide.
