Took my own advice and cold blued the barrel breach this afternoon.
One bottle of cold blue, two qtips, alcohol, steel wool, and paper towels, 10 minutes.  before  after

It came out nice than it looks. I oiled the barrel after bluing and it took away some of the smooth shiny black look when the flash goes off.

And this is exactly why I won't polish my barrel. Well that and the fact that I don't care what the target thinks of what my barrel looks like.
 Not dissen you bro, it's just that I think all this "dress up my XD/Glock/M&P/Khar crap just has to stop! It's a defense gun not a piece of jewelry! Buy a Kimber if you want jewelry! A Kimber is what you show your friends, a Glock/XD/M&P/Khar is what you show your enemies! Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

I like the look of a pimped XD better than a 1911.
I guess I'm one of the few who does NOT think a 1911 is a thing of beauty.

Send it to Tripp and get it hardchromed. I have had 3 or 4 barrels hardchromed. Nice look, very hard durable finish.
