Take the pin out don't try to hammer it out the bottom of the slide because more than likely you will be hammering on the striker. Try pulling it out the top. Once it's out make sure you can see daylight though the hole before trying to put a new one back in. You'll have to push the firing pin back at the breach face to where it's even with the breach. You can also hold back the striker where it engages the sear. Hold it back enough so that the striker's channel is aligned with the hole.
+1. Great information above ^^^^^^^^^

You need to hold the striker back a bit in order to start the pin. If you, you can only pin the striker down.

Oh boy... considering how much trouble I had getting it in this far, I don't think there is any way I'll be able to pull it out from the top Looking though from the bottom, I don't see anything in the way, but don't want to risk hammering the striker as agalindo mentioned. It may be time to call Scott and see what he can do... I should probably quit while I'm somewhat ahead

Do you have a drill press or vise? Perhaps you can insert a drill bit into the pin about 1/3 down and try to pull it out. Just an idea...

i would try to use some gun scrubber in the firing pin area. i had the same problem and it turned out the greasr in that area gummed up real bad. after you do this put a pencil ( eraser end in ) in THE UNLOADED GUN and point it up, if the pencil jmps the pin is working. look at the eraser and make sure the firing pin hit the eraser.

if you disassemble your slide you can probably pull your striker out and then tap it from the bottom. It will also make lining the channel up alot easier because it will be lose and easier to move. If you need pictures of disassembly or what it should look like ask or PM me.

That's not a roll pin that's a rivet! You can do a couple of simple things to see where you stand.

Remove the slide from the frame. Can you move the striker by hand at all? Use some force, no tools so far so you can't hurt anything. If you can move the striker then you can fix it.

What tools do you have? A vice, hammer, a drift of the right size?

I think "pounding" was the operative word. The pounding flattened out the pin. Pull it out and put a new one in without pounding it. Good luck!

i would tape everything around it off and try to pinch that area in a vice really good and wigle the slide (like around in a circle if you get what im saying) then try and pull it out. odds are you are going to have to wiggle it alot to try and break it loose then pull it out

What tools do I have? Nothing, really (college student). I'm definitely going to e-mail Scott and see what he can do... after shooting horribly with my stock XD-40 in a USPSA match today, I'd rather spend a little $$ to get it fixed ASAP than mess with it anymore myself. Boy do the stock trigger pull + sights stink!! (not to mention the recoil of the .40) One poor no-shoot ended up with 2 headshots and 1 in the chest A-zone LOL
