If the loader doesn't move back freely when you release it after you push it down, then it's too tight. Get some sandpaper to loosen it up first. Then it should work better.

FWIW - I place the base of the magazine on a hard surface, then slide the mag loader over the mag, then place the palm of my hand over the top of the mag loader with the web of my hand facing the cartridge insertion side. You have greater leverage when pushing down - no chance of finger slipping off the "finger grip" on the mag loader.

You can even place the base of the mag against your leg to load in a standing position.

I shoot 200+ rounds per week and no sore thumbs!

what is button for

I Picked up my XD40SC today and these answers about the mag loader really helped me on how to use it. My question is what is the spring loaded button on the side of the loader for?

It's a release button in case you want to carry the loader on the cheezy XDGear magazine holster.

As far as using the loader...see post 22 in this thread, and I'll bet it works great for you.

You cannot legislate morality, and banning inanimate objects will never substitute for personal responsibility. Banning and limiting things merely makes them profitable to criminals via laws of supply and demand.
