+1 for the Lula, I tried a couple out last week at a gun show. Pistol Gear has 2 on order for me now.

I agree with the person that said it gets easier to just load your mags by hand after you get used to it and the springs break in a bit. I no longer use the mag loader to load my mags because it just slows me down. I can load faster with my bare hands, but that wasn't always the case.

When I was first learning how to fire a handgun, a Marine friend of mine was giving me basic instruction at the range. He had a Glock 23 in .40 S&W (his carry gun), so that's what I was using. I, for the life of me, could not load the mags that day. I distinctly remember being embarrassed when the range operator called me weak for not being able to feed the last few rounds into the mag. It was difficult and the spring was very tight. In addition, I was very clumsy with it because I didn't quite know how to hold it the best way.

You'll get the hang of it.

If you do it like zac07, it's way faster, and smoother, and you can get by without a manicure and a gold watch.

Hows the loader work. The one that comes with the gun? 16 rd mag by the way. How about a youtube link.
To be honest I tried the loader and found it awkward and I felt clumsy using it. Not to say it is not for you. I found that over time it was much easier to load by hand. The spring in the XD do seem stronger or harder to suppress then other fire arms that I own. I heard that if you leave the mag loaded it will ease some of the tension on the spring. Again I just heard this, but my mags are always loaded on all my guns..Call me a nut IDK

I hated mine too when I first got it. Then I realized it was just tight. I took some sandpaper and sanded the inside and now it slides up easily from the force of the magazine spring.
