Dry Fire After Roll Pin Replacement
Well I posted the other week about my roll pin partially shearing off but instead of pushing up and out, part of it fell through the bottom and locked my slide back.
I wiggled out the loose peice and continued shooting my IDPA match. I received some replacment roll pins from Don (you rock) and they fit much tighter then the stock ones. One thing I am noticing is that when I now dry fire I get a solid click instead of the hollow feeling click with the stock pin. Is this a good, bad, or indifferent issue? Personally it feels like the trigger breaks much cleaner then before. I am going to hit the range on Saturday so we'll see what happens. Thanks again Don for your generosity. |

Just real quick: the sound difference seem logical, but no it should not have any affect on the performance of the gun. I think the trigger feels like it is breaking cleaner because of the sharper sound, as that pin should not affect the sear/striker relationship. Only the striker-stop relationship.

my thoughts eaxactly...all the roll pin does is keep the firing pin in its orbit (orbit might not be the right word, but you get the point).

So I guess it's just that the impact sound of the striker being stopped is different.
Because the original pin was sheared so badly, it looked like a U, the thing got dented to hell and came out in a mangled mess. The replacement roll pin is dead solid. |

Dry fire the XD with a "snap cap" or damage WILL happen to the roll pin
