Got my XD yestarday.

I just got my XD 9mm Wednesday. I got it off gunbroker.com for $425 w/ s/h. I paid Monday and got it in 2 days. Great guy to deal with. The slide is tighter than the guns I handles at the store. But I am sure it will improve with use. I was surprised that the manual did not cover reassembly after the disassembly, but I am sure you just reverse the order. There are a couple vids on Youtube on field stripping an XD 9mm. I will probably fire it this weekend. I love it so far. Should I disassemble it and clean and lube it before firing it?

The XD's like all SA come with a lot of lube. I would just run a patch through the barrel to get any lube out and go shoot it. Go to HS2000 website for fieldstripping help or youtube.

Very good, Congratulations. I picked up my XD9 Tactical this past Friday. Now I have to get myself out to the range for practice.

Congrats, and great choice in a weapon.

The slide will loosen up very quickly. That spring in there has allot of initial tension but once you rack it back a few times you'll notice a difference.

Time for a Don's guide rod, then you'll know what tension is all about. I installed one and could hardly pull the slide back far enough to put the field strip lever down. It was the same though, after a clip it was nice and fluid.

Buy lots of ammo for the range, if you are like me then you'll go through 500 rounds and wish that you had more on you.
