I have a set on an XD40 which came that way
from the factory at SA. They work very well for what they were designed to do. Strictly for close up, defensive quick sight on target acquisition. Surely not for target practice at the range at any distance greater than 7 - 10 yards. I like them. If you decide to buy, give PistolGear a ring. Ed |

I have them on my G26, but then again as Ed said, strictly "up close and personal". Not meant for target shooting.

I've got two sets on other non-Springfield guns.... But I went with the "small dot" version. The "large dot" are strictly close quarters combat sights and will do a great job for that. I like to do a little bullseye too -the small dot sights almost do that without losing much speed for close work. I've been thinking about putting a set on my little XD when the budget can handle it. IAC the folks at XS do a good job - they provide a nice plastic pusher, some clone Loctite, and the necessary allen wrenches, if any. I figure if I can do it anybody can. Regards,

I'd never seen that video before.... I'm not good enough, but I can see how the small dot sights would let you do 100 yard knockdowns. I would think the big dots would take a tad more skill, but not write the possibility off.
They tell you to aim the small dots very high at 30'. I think I'd hurt my wrist at 100 yards Regards,

RAPNJ:
The only difference between the two XS designs (if you ignore the version that doesn't have a tritium tube in the rear sight) is the size of the ball. The "Large Dot" isn't really going to cut it for bullseye work, but would otherwise probably suit you. The "Small Dot" is almost adequate for bullseye, with most of the other advantages. I can't tell you anything about the Heinie sights except that the sight picture - two dots, one over the other when lined up, isn't too different from the XS. They're probably better for bullseye, and when it's light enough that the tritium isn't a factor, look more "normal" compared to the sights you're replacing. If you can live with three dots, just putting conventional trituim sights on the gun ought to be a good way to go too. 'Bout all we can tell you is what we're using. Definitely a YMMV situation. I shoot various three-dot unilluminated sights as well as a couple XS "Small Dot" guns, and can switch between them without any difficulty. My range buddy's M92 has the "dot the 'I'" style sights that look a lot like the small dot XS, if you have access to one of those - even without lights. Regards,

RapNJ,
I've got the XS Big Dot 24/7 on my Beretta 96 and on my XD9 service and I love them. As soon as I can, they're going on my XD9sc. |
