I guess you need to factor in what the particular gun is for, either a defense gun or a target gun. Unless it is your only pistol. I have them on my 9mm sc which is most assuredly a defense gun for me thus I don't care of it is not as good at target popping.

I love them. Took me a while to get used to them but a couple hunnert rounds shoud be enuf. I shoot IDPA with them and do quite well for a newbie. The thing that helped me the most was shooting smaller targets (20oz plastic drink bottles) at various distances up to 25 yds. Just put the big dot over the bottle at it goes flying! Really makes you use the front site with the smaller targets.

24/7 Big Dots
The sights are designed to put you on target as fast as possible. At 7 meters the size of the dot is an inch or so--this is not about shooting precise bullseyes.
As I recall, the original design idea (Ashley Sights) were developed for hunting large, angry, violent, and lethal big game in Africa; the animal is charging AT YOU, you can't miss, and there is precious little time to react much less take careful aim. Picture the same situation, except the rhino is now carrying a gun... Some tests somewhere showed a measurable improvement in acquisition of targets, with more than sufficient accuracy to be effective. I don't shoot bullseye targets. I re-train to shoot at likely targets, accurately, calmly, effectively, and quicker than the other guy. ALL of the SIGs, Glocks, and XDs, that I have ever owned have had Big dots put on them--I wish that they had been available for pistols too many years ago... It is also worth noting that I can hit the target effectively without my prescription glasses, and in the dark... Something to think about. Buy the gun, the ammunition, the holster, and the SIGHTS to all work together and give you confidence to stand your ground, take aim and be on target first at whatever is trying to kill you. |

Just got my slide back from Springfield today with the new sights, it took 13 days door to door (very fast service). I went to the range to try them out, shoot 3 mags this photo is the last mag. I think they are great easy and fast to sight. Paid $95 plus $8.50 for shipping, thats a great price and the slide came back in a small gun case. The photo is the head part of an IDPA target shot a 7 meters. The XD is a service 9mm. I love the sights.

To pickup on what was just posted, SA will remove your factory sights, sell and install the XS tritiums for less than I can buy the XS sight itself alone for. No sledge hammer and a vise needed. Add $18 shipping and it's a great deal.

The total bill was $103.95. Other places wanted $120 for the sights, about $30 to put them on and $25 shipping and handling

You just shipped the slide, and did not need to go through an FFL, pay for overnight shipping, etc. correct?
