Probably posted before, but always good to refresh for newbies! Site does a salt water spray test on steel with several popular gun oils/rust preventers.

Basically Eezox owned everybody! (no affiliation). I use the stuff after every deep cleaning and CLP for normal cleaning duties.

Lots of people use multiple products when cleaning for their different properties. Eezox is great for corrosion prevention, but it's not an oil or grease. CLP fills that role somewhat, but I still use a lube after the CLP such as GunButter or Tetra grease/oil. CLP performed pretty well, so if you are shooting/cleaning the gun a lot, CLP is probably all you need. For stored gun, I'm still going to Eezox after cleaning. You still need to lube in either case.

Eezox is a bit more expensive than CLP and harder to find, so I don't clean with it, but I'm sure you could, maybe. Note that it's a chlorinated solvent. Not sure if that could hurt any polymer parts. I thought people using brake cleaner usually use the non-chlorinated types?

Some people try to get by with just one product thinking they are lubing and preventing rust, but as you can see it's not always the case. I had heard Militec was not good at preventing rust, but people still use it baked on as a lube in dusty environments where oil or grease would collect too much crud. I use it sometimes on new guns, but was surprised how bad it performed on rust!

yea im stickign with break-free its cheap and is a good lube but for very long term storage i compleatly take the gun apart and clean it very good and store the part in melted wax (metal parts only) and only for hand guns. when i need to remove the wax i boil the part in watter then immeaditly spray with oil then clean with a gun solvent the relube then reassemble im sure it not the best or easiest way but it sure works great for me

Eezox is mostly chlorinated solvent and a synthetic ester (a typ of oil). I have found it to be a pretty good lube at least for short duration. It is what I use for storage or safe queens as well. It is also a quite good cleaner due to the solvent, but is not the most people friendly. I have used chlorinated solvents on Glocks and XDs with no problems.

Mixing the two may be detrimental since the chemistries are not designed to work together. It think it is best to use a single product.

LOTS of chlorine in Milicrap since it is an additive designed to be diluted into other oils. Militec wants you to use it full power on guns, which it is not designed for.
