I have made my decision...and it is an XD 9mm
Hi gang this is my first post here. I am just looking for a little input. I am looking for a home protection and target gun. This will be my first handgun. I have very little experience with handguns but I was in the Marines and know how to handle a weapon safely. After much research and handling a few guns that fit into my price range I have decided to go with the Springfield XD 9mm I was also looking at the S&W M&P 9mm, FN FNP-9, Steyr M9-A1, Ruger P95, Glock 19 , Taurus 24/7 and a couple others. After handling these guns I feel the most comfortable holding the XD and the trigger felt great. I like the safety features better than the other guns. I do love that FN FNP-9 but I don't want my first gun to be DA/SA. Maybe I will get it down the road. I am going to the gun show next weekend to get my XD. I have seen them on Gunbrker.com for $400.00 + $20-$25 s/h + $ 15.00 for FFL transfer fee. So about $440. in my hand. Or should I just wait and go to the gun show? Will I be able to get one cheaper than $440? I would like to be able to hold it and see it. I hate waiting for shipped items to arrive. Plus maybe get some rounds and a cleaning kit at the show too. I think if I could find a Walther P99 for a really good price I would get that in stead, but I doubt I will see one for under $500.00. Thanks for any input.

I think you will find that on this board, most people will think you have made a wise choice.
I'm in MD, so our price points around here are a little on the high side, but I would say, save what ever money you can... hell I would love to get a XD in the $500 range, after tax tags and title, mine was near $700. I was in the Navy myself, and had a good deal of Experience with the M9. Which I think is why, when I rented the XD I fell so in love with the SA trigger. I have fired a M&P 9, it felt nice, and I shot it very well. You wouldn't be making a mistake by buying it. What ever fit you the best, they are all fine weapons.

Great choice first of all. The XD 9 is a wonderful handgun. I'd also say that you'll be lucky to find one at the gun show for less than $440.00, you might want to jump on that deal if you can get it.
Have you priced them locally at the gun shops? |

Gander Mt had it for $499.00 and another place had it for $480.00, add tax of course. I would like to use a local guy but I need to save the cash just to please the much better half. I told her I would keep the whole purchase under $500 including any rounds and stuff.

You may save 20 bucks or so at the gunshow but generally they do not offer any superb deals. They just have a good selection of gear. I'd go with the $440.00 deal, that is pretty killer and saves you enough that you can buy a good batch of ammo to break the gun in.

Welcome to the forum and the XD family. Great price on the XD9, by the way.

Welcome to the forum, Semper Fi, and its good to see someone else here from Macomb county! Is the gun show you're talking about at Gibraltar? Sometimes you can haggle with them a bit, but I doubt you'll get a deal like $440, but you never know unless you go.

Welcome to the forum! In regards to the Xd I really think you will love it. I own many hand guns mostly Sig's ,however, I dont think you will find a pistol with a better trigger out of the box than a 1911 or and Xd.
