15-17 round 40 cal or 18-19 round 9mm XD
Just had a discussion with a someone with strong ties to Springfield that they will come out with a 15-17 40 cal or 18-19 round 9mm XD on the 45acp frame coming out in 2 or 3 quarter of next year, but he wasn't too sure either. Can anybody confirm this? I have a XD 40 Tactical but not too happy with the 12 rounds and 15 rounds with extended base capacity. I've been strongly considering the M&P. S&W claims they will be coming out with 5" version soon. Anyhow, I'm not concerned about which is better. Personally, I like them both because of the grip angle are similar and each time you pull the trigger it goes bang. So, I wanted to confirm if that XD version in 40 is coming.
Thanks, Surf_daddy |

well, your the one who knows "someone with strong ties to springfield"... you tell us... Honestly I don't see them putting the 9mm on the .45 frame, but its very likely that they'll put the .40 on there... if Rob Leatham has as much pull as i figure he does at springfield then I can definately see the .40 happening, especially in how much money springfield makes off of uspsa shooters... Plus it would make them competitive with glock... There would be sooo many "hicap" .40s bought if they did do that...

This may or may not be on topic, but I would love to see a conversion kit for the XD-45. .45acp is so darned expensive that I would be willing to buy a barrel conversion so I can shoot 9mm at the range, yet still have the punch of a .45 available to me.
Has anyone ever heard of being able to put a smaller caliber barrel and mag into a .45 frame/slide and have it be functional? |

Well, I know you can go from .40 to 9...

Yeah, I think the .45 is a bit different in design from the 9mm/.40/.357, so no luck with that.
