Not exactly an XD request, but I'd love to see Springfield develop a line of pistol-caliber carbines that take XD mags (see also: Beretta Px4/Cx4).

Thumbs up

Short barrelled .45's:

My S&W CS45 is a .45ACP "air travel" gun. That is one that I wouldn't mind getting an insurance check for.... Essentially it's a PPK/S that's about an inch thick . The chamber's nearly the same length as the barrel. (It's also more or less the same size as an XD-9 SC.) At 30' both of them shoot well enough for defensive carry. 'Course the Smith is 6+1.... I shoot JHP's in both - the .45's seem to do what's necessary but I can't speak about the expansion issues.

There are loads available for shorter barrelled guns too. Might be worth a look....

The Smith doesn't do a lot of muzzle flip either - recoil is straight back. Very soft Hogue grips suck up most of it. The little XD roars like an angry bull and climbs quite a bit. I'm not sure what a .45ACP version would do. It'd be fun to try though .

(My usual daily carry is a 4" 1911. It does what it's supposed to do. The CS45 is for trips. I use the XD-9 SC for "around the house".... I'd still like to see a thumb safety on the thing but can live without it. I'd also love to know why tritium sights aren't standard nowadays. Gotta cost less than $50 when the gun's originally built. Just IMO....)

That's got my vote.

If the .40 was based on the .45 frame, I wouldnt have bought the XD40 I now have. I simply don't find the .45 frame to fit me anywhere near as good as the current XD40 frame.

I use to have a Beretta Storm 9mm and if memory serves me I believe the Beretta mags fit in XDs with a little rework on the mag lock hole, it may go the opposite way in the Cx4. The Storm was a fun gun to shoot and very accurate at 50 yards. It's been a while so don't take my word for it.

+1

That's the same reason I haven't bought an XD-45. The small frame just fits perfectly in my hand, and while I shot a borrowed XD-45 pretty well, I just didn't like the way it felt. I would like to see an increased capacity XD-40, but not at the expense of the larger frame (I want to have my cake and eat it too! ).

Personally, I like the one piece guide rods in my XDs. Fewer parts to break is always a good thing. I even swapped-out the captive assemblies in the 4" Service models I've owned for DGRs. I like being able to fine-tune the springs to my loads and shooting style as well.

What I'd really like to see is a Compact XD-9/40. 4" barrel and short, Sub-compactesque grip. I'd buy one of those tomorrow if I could.

And spare parts... Who wouldn't want to be able to order spare parts?!?

I don't get the requests for the thumb safety.
Would one of the requesters give some input as to why you would want this?
