Well I picked up my new 45 compact AND I finished my CCW class and got my certificate. Now I just have to take it to the sheriff and wait! Couldn't ask for much more out of a day in my opinion!

That's not a good day - That's a GREAT DAY!!

I hope the wait in Guilford County is not too long. Here in Wake it took a little over a month for mine and my wife's concealed permits to go though.

Thank ya much. I will actually be taking it to the sheriff in Mitchell County (up in the mountains). I was told that it would be around the beginning of October before I could even get an appointment at the sheriffs office here in Guilford county. Luckily this isn't my permanent address because I am a college student. But yes, today was not a good day, it was a GREAT day!

Sorry to give you a little bad news today, but I made an appointment in Guilford County 3 weeks ago, and I have to wait until Sept. 18 JUST to see the the lady at the Sheriff's office to give her my paperwork, THEN wait for the permit to arrive.

Edit: Nevermind, you should get yours before me then. Continue to have a GREAT day.

Man - I feel for my fellow Carolinians over in Greensboro!

Here in Wake, you just show up, fill out the paper work, give it to the nice lady behind the counter, pay your fees, get your fingerprints taken digitally, and wait for the background checks to happen and the permit to come back. You don't have to "meet" with anyone!

Yeah, its crazy. I have all my paperwork ready to go. Why does it take so long? The lady who gives out the purchase permits doesn't ever look busy.

I believe that Guilford county only allows you to make appointments for concealed carry permits on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I am sure that causes things to get backed up a little. But for it to take 2 months to just MEET with them is crazy, especially considering that it could take up to 3 more months before you receive the actual permit in the mail. Are there that many people in the Boro that are carrying concealed??

Here in Wake, concealed carry and purchase permits are all done at the same window in the Sheriff's office. The only time I have ever had to wait was when there were people in line ahead of me. I consider myself lucky!

What's worse for me is that I actually passed the class in the beginning of May. I was broke at the time and didn't ever try to get the permit. I only was aware of the wait when I showed up at the window with money. If I called when I passed, I might have had the meeting already.

My CCW class is August 26 then I have to go down to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office after that. I will be there Monday the 27th rest assured

. It's 90 to 120 days to wait for that CCW permit once I leave the Sheriff's Office. We get 3 weapons on our permit so I will test with my XD45 Service, XD9SC and my friend is going to loan me his Sig 220 in case I end up getting one. Either way removing and adding a weapon is nothing more than taking the one day class ($75) with the new weapon, going to the Sheriff Office and adding it right then and there. No waiting for that.

I can't wait.
