This also works on the Don's guide rod with the spring on backwards problems.

I just got a Don's Guide Rod but haven't tried to install it yet. If you can put the spring on backwards which is the correct way?
You'd think that a rod, spring & washer would be pretty straight forward to install. Who'd have known.

And as for trying to sleep-clean, that's how a buddy of mine ended up locking his front door, through a wall... (ND) It's amazing what a new deadbolt and some wall putty can accomplish.

The end of the spring with the closed loop goes towards the chamber.

Have you tried FP10 or BreakFree? Don't use metal brush to brush it off as you will be in worse situation.
You can use the automative buffer pad from Mothers. Stick it on a power drill and spin it with the pad damped in solvent. Use low speed and medium pressure and be patient. And you need to wrap your slide on a thick towel and hold it in place by a table vise grip. I used to do that for polish expensive swords..not the brass but all the nasty stuffs on them. |
