When I brought my subbie home, I did not realize how bad the finish was or I would have bought the stainless. My only option then was to hard chrome.

Because some folks (like your truly) bought a gun when there was no stainless available.

Here is my gen. 1 HS2000 in NP3:

I think it's interesting that the NP3 looks cooler or warmer depending on the background.

Also, I don't have to lubricate my slide at all due to the teflon in the electroless nickel.

Well that's just false.
HC is known for it's excellent corrosion resistance.

No offense to you Rotty37, I just think that bit from Robar is flat-out wrong.

Isn't Robar just HC with teflon mixed in? If so, it seems it would be similar to HC in corrosion.

It's nickel plating with teflon mixed in.

You might be right TN popo. But what ever finish you chose, Hard Chrome or NP3, you're way ahead of the game with protection, wear life and over all long life for what ever pistol you choose to refinish. And both finishes are great looking also.

I'm just quoting from their site. Maybe someone with metallurgy background can attest to info.

Yes sir, I agree...with one exception.

Does the hard chrome finish require lubrication? I can see that being a large factor in which finish I would choose being that the amount of dust here is purely insane. Not having to oil the pistol would be awesome.
