If you want to drive to Wilmington, DE, you can take my XD-9 subbie and Service for a test drive.

Also, TargetMaster in Chadds Ford, PA (on 202 north of Wilmington) has XD's for rent. That's how I did a side-by-side comparison test of the XD-9 subbie and the Glock's version (I forget the number).

Let me know if you want to come out for a visit.

wow chadds ford is like 2 hours from me. I'm pretty set on the service, unless shooting Simons changes my mind. Locally I can get them for $499. CDNN wants $442 shipped. Is it worth dealing with shipping it for $50?

no because you gotta pay the shipping and then you still have to pay your transfer fee and whatnots.

You might save $10 in the long run. It's best to patronize the local shops.

Yeah that is what I was thinking. Is the transfer fee built into gun store prices? If not I have to pay that regardless correct?

Is it $499 plus background check?

vs

$442 plus background check?

I don't know about which is a "better" deal. Save some money vs wait longer. Patronize a local shop vs order online.

6 in one hand, a half dozen in the other I guess.

XD-9 Service... good choice. I love mine! It's my "ready for home invasion" and "WTF was that noise?" gun.

I don't know if it includes the background check or not. I didn't think to ask.

Hey man - I shot you a PM to see if you're still interested in shooting... The ranges should now be open again.

FWIW - When I got my XD9SC (purchased yesterday), the background check fee was only $3. That was at Cabela's in Hamburg, PA... I think I paid more when I went to Bass Pro for my XD9 Service.

If u r in VA, u can test any of my guns beside my Para P14, Sig P226, and the newly acquired P7M8. Just bring your ammo of course. I am too broke to do reliability test on my guns now.

I don't believe dealers have to pay transfer fees (it's only when a customer purchases a gun), and even if they did it'd be miniscule since they order 10s if not 100s of guns at a time.

As far as online dealers... transfer prices are never built in since you pay for the 'transfer' at the point of sale which would be when you go to pick up your gun and they run a background check on you and they charge their fee for handling the transaction which is what the 'transfer fee' actually is.

Are you still looking to shoot an XD? I'm a little far from Harrisburg, but I can make the trip out there and visit a range of your choice to let you shoot my XD.
