Well, finally got my XD-40...and a Compliment to Gander Mtn.

This is an update from the original post here.

So a month and a half has passed since I ordered my pistol from the gunshop mentioned in the original post, still no pistol. The wife wanted me to have my pistol by my birthday, well, today is my birthday. Still no pistol. I went in to said gunshop today and asked if they knew anything, the guy said no. So, I asked him for my money back. He gave it to me without incident, and apologized. I had called Gander Mountain earlier to see if they had any, and the guy said they had one. So off to Gander Mountain I went.

This time the guys were very helpfull. The had an XD-40 Service in the display case with a $479.99 price tag. Well, I told the guy my story, I also told him that I didn't care about the extra 12 round mag. or the holster, I'll just take what's in the box, if they could match the price from the other store. They did. $425.99+ tax and PICS (PA instant check) fee.

Now, what impressed me was, the gun in the case had some scratches in the finish from being pulled in and out of the case. I pointed this out to the salesman, and he wasn't happy, so he asked his partner to go in the back, and see if they had another one. Well, they did, nice new in the box. Now, wouldn't you know my luck, PICS was down today. So, they let me put it on layaway (I payed all but a penny), and told me to call either tonite or tomorrow, to see if PICS was back up. So, I think they made up for the mistake the original idiot they had working that nite, oh so long ago, did. I forgive them.

I had the same kind of experience with GM when I was looking for my P-01; first guy said "none in stock"; second guy said "yeah, we have one left for $449; I spoke with the manager and he said he would match my best price and beat it by $40; so I drove the 60 miles to the store and it was waiting; and the manager apologized for the first 2 guys and I walked out with it for $408; good enough cs for me to be a customer again; btw, hope you like your xd40; mine is great! and my daughter likes it better than any of my others; it's the only one she wants to shoot!

PICS finally came back online, and I picked up my XD a little after 7 P.M. tonite. I already have the magazines loaded to get some tension out of the springs. Don's guide rod was installed, but I opted to put the factory rod back in just to see the difference. Either way Don's rod is going back in, just because it looks better. Looks like I'm going to take an early out of work tomorrow so I can shoot the thing.
