HELP! Slide stuck after field strip

After field stripping, as I was pushing the slide back, I heard a slight grind and now the slide is stuck half open! The feed ramp seems too far forward so I assume the spring must have slipped and allowed the barrel to advance forward as I pushed the slide back.
Nothing will budge. Does anyone know what I can do? Is this something an armorer could fix or should I send it to S.A. to have them check it. Has this happened to anyone else??

Thanks for any input.

Pointing in a safe direction first, try holding the barrel in your left hand and with your right hand whack the back of the grip and safety firmly with your palm, I had a similar experience a while back with mine

There are others threads maybe better, but I bet these will help. It is common enough and can be fixed at home. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your XD.

Is it just me, or is this becoming a frequent happening?

I think it's a design problem. Lots of us have had this problem. Easy to solve but we shouldn't have to do that. My recoil rod has dents in it. Here is what it looks like?

Don...What can we do about this?

Just remember new in the box does not always mean unhandled in the box. I have watched several salemen unfamilar with XDs totally bugger up the disassembly and reassembly while showing a customer how easy it is. I have had XDs for many years and managed to screw up putting my XD45 ACP back together . It happens.

Besides putting in the DGR in backwards "my fault" it's never happened to me.

I had it happen along time ago, and ill be the first to admit its not a faulty design its caused by a careless user. When I did mine I was watching TV and putting it back together in a hurry.

I did that once too, but I put the slide back on without the spring or barrel. Just put an empty mag in and you should be able to release the slide. This trick works for this problem at least.

You could try the after market rod and spring they sell here. I've never had a problem like that.
