Yeah, that target would be useless for me. When I screw up, it's all over the board.

MY normal range has one of these hanging on the wall. I have had to walk out of the firing area and point it out to some friends to tell them what theyre doing.

Do note that this is for RIGHT handers. Swap everything for left handers.

He is likely squezing his entire hand when he fires, rather than just easing the trigger. Tell him to relax his grip and just let the trigger travel, concentrating not to squeeze his other fingers or thumb.

Also, for a beginner shooter, ask him to take up all the slack in the trigger before pulling, rather than start his pull from a fully relaxed trigger. This will give him a shorter distance to do anything "wrong".

I want to understand (not joking - just want to understand) - How is possible for a person to grip a pistol too tightly? Is the calibration on the pistol sights performed with the idea that there will be a certain amount of muzzle flip because experienced shooters all relax a certain average amount? I always thought that the more still and secure the pistol was held, the higher the chance of a decent shot.

Not to be stupid but, what does " Too Little Trigger Finger" actually mean?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

I agree with mcone. Tell him to tighten his grip as much as he can that way when he pulls the trigger he can't tighten his fingers any more than they already are.
