Locked up my XD!

After cleaning my XD last Friday, something strange happened as I was reassembling it. From what I can tell, the barrel is somehow too far forward and now the slide is stuck. The guide rod and spring were in place before I put the slide back on. Here are a couple of pictures:

Any suggestions? I already e-mailed Scott, but he is out for USPSA Nationals. I kind of need to get this fixed before Sunday

When I did that to mine I hit the back of the slide on the carpet to get it to close a little but then when I could get a brass bolt/rod on the top of the chamber I tapped it forward and everything will come off. make sure your disassembly lever is still up. They told me it was bc I got the guide rod off center but O didnt notice it.

Don't know, but

Man that looks bad, wish you luck. Have you called SA? Scott at Springer has helped me in the past with questions or promblems. Wish you luck!

Do you have a Don's guide rod installed? If you do you then more than likley you put the spring in backwards. With the gun in disassembly mode, hold it backwards and hit it agaist the carpet hard. Buy the way that gun looks pretty dirty.

Ah yes...a common problem, happened to me once

Slide Stuck Back...

you will find some helpful information here.

You can fix it yourself if you follow the directions carfully. There are two possibilities. One your spring was not perfectly centered or two you put the spring in backwards.

I was too chicken to mess with it too much and sent it back to SA.

Progress! I hit the slide on the carpet and I can now see a bit of the top of the chamber. I'm a little unclear about the next step though... I've drawn an arrow at what I think you are telling me to hit: http://img104.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img4243xp4.jpg

Nope, it's the stock guide rod. You are correct that it looks dirty - I had just shot it in the USPSA Indiana state sectional and just sprayed it down with gunscrubber. I was planning on giving it a through cleaning after the Formula 1 race this past weekend until this happened. Thanks everyone for all the tips - hopefully I get this fixed soon!

sometimes the guide rod moves out of center and get caught on something inside the frame or slide, had this happen a few times.

Yes that is where I was talking about, now if you take a brass bolt/rod and tap the barrel forward toward the muzzle everything should come loose. be careful because once it "lets go" the slide will come right off and fall.
