What's wrong with that? See my post here: Sub compact: 9mm or .40?

By the way, the JMB cult only worries about traitors to the 1911, don't care what caliber. There is a splinter group that say the only real 1911 is made by Colt but they are a minority.

Nothing wrong with either round. The .45 is time proven and has survived many years of debate. on the other hand The .40 was developed in the last 20 years or so, and has found itself compared to a .45 which in itself should be an indicator that it is a decent round.

The .40 vs .45 bashing seems to be getting worse these days. I own both cals and would trust my life with either!

It will always be shooters skill & preference that determine "What is" the most accurate. I have read some research that lends itself to the Idea that the .40 is not a target round. Developed for self defence the round tends to be a l"ittle" less accurate than the .45acp.

Simply if you are making 4" groups @ 25 yds with a .40 you are stopping the threat. That is more than satifactory for self defence. I you are shooting targets, then there might be a concern with 4" groups. but I did not By a EBP to shoot paper, I have target guns for that.

Shoot them both allot, you will know which you want by the time you are done shooting. Either choice will be the right one, since it is not based on other peoples rederic, or cal bashing, rather it is based on whats fits you best

i have noticed that with my 45 im more accurate im not sure if this is because i have shot my 45 more or it could be the flatter tip on the 40 rounds but if you can shoot a 9mm better then the 40 or 45 go with that like many have said shoot them both and which ever you are better with choose that but a diffeence between 4" 25y or 2"at 25y really isnt that big of a difference in self defence since most SD shots are taken between 5 and 10 yards that wont matter that much. the best SD gun is one you can take everywhere if its in your truck and not on you when you need it it doesnt matter so decide weather you want it for carry or home defence but what ever you chooses get good quality SD rounds and have it so you can get to it fast. that being said i have more fun shooting my 45 than any other gun i have its a blast to shoot. good luck

Otherwise, it's exactly like saying after shooting a .40 "This thing can't hit the broad side of a barn" , never occuring to the shooter it may be HIS problem, not the guns'.
Several different people tested this with me. All of us taking turns with the several guns we tried it with on the same day using the same rest(we all have many years experience with handguns). We all came to the same conclusion. The .45 XD's were more accurate. I'm sorry if I offended you and your fragile sensibilities.
"is juvenile in nature and questionable in fact". My coments are based on experience not theory or bias. Yes I too can shoot the .40 as well hand held at combat ranges as I can with the .45. My statements above are based on bech rested accuracy to see what the gun is capable of with as little human error as possible. If you see this as dumb then it only shows me your lack of experience.

By the way congrats on the rudest statement of the day! You obviously lack the experience to understand what was being said. It's cool to disagree but there is no good that can come from being rude about it.

Debating the virtues of 40 vs 45 will always bring out more emotion than logic. Simple fact is that both have proven to work very effectively. I carry both and feel very confident in each caliber. That being said I am making a switch from my Glock 22 (40S&W) to an XD45 compact for my primary carry weapon. The Glock will become my bedside pistol.I just feel the XD will be a little easier to carry concealed and I like the way it feels and shoots. Good luck with your choice.
