bullet size doesn't determine accuracy. things such as gun design determine that. why not try a 9mm? good JHP ammo will get the job done as good as any .40 or .45.

Yes sir I agree. It's just that in the XD.45's are (most of the time) more accurate than the other calibers in the XD line. I have several friends with pretty much every model XD out there(combined not each). From a solid rest the .45's are more accurate. The .40 seems to avg between 3-4" @ 25yds and the 9MM seems to be pretty on par with it. The four(besides my own so actually a total of five) XD.45's that I've personally shot all averaged in the 1.89-2.25" range at the same distance. Please don't take it that I'm trying to put the .40 and 9mm down. I think they are well within combat acuracy type demands. They are perfectly adequate. I'm just an accuracy junkie.

Congrats! Dumbest statement I've read so far today! more accurate of the two...pfft. If you mean YOU shoot the 45 better then the 40, ok. A gun is not MORE accurate then another by itself. It needs help, Einstein.

Second dumbest statement, and it's still early! Ammunition, wind, "solid rest", and shooter are the factors here. To blanket state a caliber is "more accurate" then another is juvenile in nature and questionable in fact. It's best to say "From my experience, when I shoot a .40, I can't hit as accurately as with my 45...." . Otherwise, it's exactly like saying after shooting a .40 "This thing can't hit the broad side of a barn" , never occuring to the shooter it may be HIS problem, not the guns'.

That's my take on it. CoM hits are more important than caliber. LOTS of people have died from 22rf.

I just compared my XD9SC with my XD45 Compact and there is almost no difference in grip length. In fact the 9SC with a Pearce grip installed is longer than the Compact. I firmly believe that if I could only have one gun for self defence and range I would pick the XD45 Compact, especially over a 40SC, I just do not like the 40 S&W. Everyone has and opinion and that's mine.

get the 45

i have a xd40 and 45 i carry the 40 over the 45 because i feel that a 40 is better in a greater number of sitiations. before the 45 nuts go crazy hear me out the 45 is the best person to person gun but if you have to shoot through a car door the 40 has much better penetration however i havent compared to 45 +p which is probably just as good as the 40 for penetration as far as home defence goes its 45 all the way
