Weird question: How many of you Brasso your bullets?
I was wondering how many of you Brasso your bullets? Maybe it's just my OCD or something.

I don't keep bullets long enough for them to tarnish...

Do you mean polishing your "loaded" bullets or when you polish the cases for reloading?

posted this over at the AR15 boards and they said that the brasso will attack the copper and make it brittle. I personally don't know about that. In the Marines we used it on everything, even water pipes in the mess hall. And that holds back water pressure every day.

The ammonia in the brasso make brass brittle. The question is still are you using them to polish loaded ammo?

I'm sorry, but the only response I can come up with for this one is, "wha...?"

Brasso is a metal polish. It is very effective on copper and especially brass. It's a creamy looking liquid somewhere between whipping cream and syrup in consistency.
They used to sell it in the form of a roll of impregnated cotton wadding. That stuff was even better that the liquid. As a high school kid I had a weekend job working for the local church doing cleaning and yard work. We cleaned a lot of the metal work in the church with Brasso. http://www.stanleylondon.com/brasso.htm |
