Cracked casing? Are you referring to the frame, or the slide when you say "casing"?

The only part I've personally heard or read of cracking is the locking block, and it's not common either. This is due to a design flaw. I'll just add that if you send your XD in to Springfield they will replace the locking block with the modified design that has stress relief in the problem areas of the block.

I had a ported 9mm that had the slide crack. SA replaced within a month with a non-ported model, shipping included. Their service would make me do business with them again--if I ever wanted another XD.

I'd rather have some variety though.

I've had two 9mm V-10s break on me. Aside from that and the cracking locking block on some .40s, there haven't been any other cracks/breaks in XDs that I've heard about. The locking block has been fixed, I don't know about the V-10, but the last models I looked at still appeared to have the weakness.

Oh yeah. I forgot about reading that the V-10 slides have been known to break. That's funny since they use thick forges steel for their slides. Again, it's a design flaw.

Adam is apparently a kung-fu man and a firearms instructor, but not a troll as far as I can see. www.Adamlux.com

Adam, you're being rather vague here....what does "the bottom of an XD" mean? Where exactly did the gun crack? The slide, the frame, what? There are people here that can answer your question but we need more specifics.
