XD Sub-Compact for concealed carry
Hello,
I'm a new guy here. I was wondering how many people carry the sub compact for concealed carry? I like the looks of this gun, but I'm afraid it might be a bit bulky for me, I'm 5,7 roughly 140 pounds. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Rob |

First of all welcome to the forum. I have the xd 9 SC. Its a great gun. I usually carry this, unless it is really hot and i am wearing shorts then i carry my kel tec in my pocket. As far as your concern whether or not the SC is too bulky, its really not. For me it all depends on the clothes I am wearing. I see guys that where these tight little shirts, and there is no way you could conceal the SC with one of those. Another thing is that most likely the only people that will be able to tell if you are carrying are other people who are carrying as well. Other people don't really pay any attention. It really all just comes down to personal preferenc.

im 6'1 -160 pounds and can conceal my xd40sc no problem, i use a desantis tuck this holster and carry about 1 o'clock. alot of people carry their xd service easily. if u have a holster, try goin to a gun shop and ask for the SC and try it out. with the right holster it should feel secure in your waistband. do a search on this site for holsters and you will find a bunch of info and pics to help you decide which is best for you.
i am 25 yrs old and am one of the guys that wear a medium shirt and as long as you keep your pants up where there supposed to be its not a problem. rob Last edited by rob45cal; 05-13-2007 at 12:03 PM. |

I ccw the XD9SC in southern Nevada. Mostly IWB/tucked or with shirt out. Sometimes in a fanny-pack (on the Strip there are lots of tourists with fanny-packs and it blends right in).
For my money this is about the smallest gun that I would carry. There are really no issues about anyone noticing (if casino securty dosen't, and they don't, nobody will). Be safe. |

Flyer' you absolutely can conceal the subcompact. I am not much bigger than you and carry mine all the time.
Concealed carry requires some trade offs, though, and the SC is bulkier in width than some other makes. The exta width is worth it to me to gain the 11 round capacity, and the reliability of the XD. Go give 'em a try at a gun shop. Even if they don't have too many holsters, they'll probably still have Uncle Mike's. The size 16 IWB works for the SC (you'll want a good holster later, with shark skin and stuff |

Thanks for all the replies. I think I might visit some local shops this weekend, I want to check out the 40 and the 9mm. I've been a fan of Springfield guns for a long time. My first handgun was a Springfield 1911. I definitely need to check these guns out in person. Thanks for all the info.

9mm XDSC here, too. I use a Milt Sparks Summer Special. And I'm just a bit shorter than you and the same weight. You won't have a problem.
