I own 1 XD 45 Compact. I own 1 10 round magazine and 13 thirteen round magazines. My intention is to get 12 more thirteen rounders in the near future and one 10 rounder. At 20 dollars a magazine this reflects an investment roughly equal to buying an XD. I will use 10 to 15 of these magazines and put 10 away for future use. Here is my logic:

The compelling feature of the XD is that it offers a reliable gun with 14 rounds in a narrow grip. Without hi cap mags, it becomes less attractive. I remember back in the day having to spend 80 bucks for hicap glock mags. Not going down that road again. I expect the democrats to get in in 2008 and I expect a magazine ban may follow. I intend to own a lifetime supply of magazines if/when that happens.
I currently have 15 or so glock mags. 20 FAL mags, 20 odd AR mags, and god knows how many AK mags. My key gaps are hicap Saiga shotgun mags and XD mags. I am moving to plug those gaps.

I don't list my guns - I know glocks, FALs, and AKs but I'm not sure my ability to fill a gunsafe with guns make me an expert on anything.

All that you can depend on from a 45 is that it will drill a .45 - .70 inch hole about 14 inches into someone. There will not be "energy dump", people will not fly backwards, and they will not necessarily fall as if they have been struck by lighting.

I have 7 to split between our 2 XDs, 7 Chip McCormick's for the Kimber, 3 30rounders for the AR, and just one for the Buck Mark. Looks like I've got some stocking up to do.
