Should I or not?

I have a fairly new (300 rounds) XD-9 subcompact with Trijicon night sights and melonite finish. It has performed flawlessly and I do love it. However, I have been thinking about building an AR-15 and the following crossed my mind:

I could sell my XD and buy a little Kel Tec P3AT and with the remaining money get started on building an AR-15. I really love the XD though but sometime in the future could get another. I went to the Kel Tec forum and noticed that some of the pistols seem to experience some problems. I don't want to have to mess with any problems and that is my hesitation. I could do without my XD as long as I had something else but I want that something else to function properly. I think building an AR would just be so fun though.

I just need some opinions from you all on what to do, maybe I should just wait until I have some money to start on the AR but that could be awhile. Any suggestions?

Cool

Just what do you expect to get for your XD? 60% 70% of what you paid? Three hundred rounds or three thousand rounds; it's still used.

Keep the XD. Don't downgrade to a Kel-Tec. Just be patient and save a bit longer to start the AR project.

When I was in my early twenties, I had to sell two of my guns to help pay for some medical expenses that I incurred when my daughter had one of her heart surgeries. While I would sell them again under similar circumstances, I really hated having to do it.

I guess my point is that as a gun enthusiast, you should try to keep all the guns you have, because if you ever get rid of them, you will almost immediately want to get them back.

Take my advice with a grain of salt as I might just be posting this to convince myself, as I am saving up for an AR-15 atm

Is it cheaper to build a AR15 or just buy one like a bushmaster? I know around here to get a Bushmaster M4 new, it'd run you around $1000 and some places have em for $850

i've done some pricing myself on them. i think i ended saving a whopping $50 from the cheapest Bushmaster i've found.

i'm gonna be buying a Bushmaster when i can scrape the cash together

I have sold guns to buy others, but I only sold guns I wasn't that fond of.

But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm building an AR-15 myself. The thing about building it yourself is you can spread out the purchase so the wife never catches on!

Mine is taking a long time to complete...

you will problaby lose out on a lot of money when selling a used gun to make it a practical and wise decision. but it is your gun and your choice.

good luck to whatever you decide.
