9mm Sub Compact Accuracy

I would like to confirm an effect I am seeing.
If you had similar instances please post.

I have aN xd45 service and an xd9 sub compact.

For the most part the XD45 is dead on accurate up to about 50yrds with any load I throw in it.

At 33ft, The xd9 sub compact shoots low and to the left with +p+ loads.
Shoots low center with +p loads.
and dead center with standard pressure fmj ball.

At 75ft it is somwhat low and left with fmj ball.

Anyone see the same effects?

Before anyone suggests it ... I replaced my sights with Trijicons and made them dead center accurate with a laser.

Could it be the hot loads and short barrel have some sort of negative interaction?

Thanks,
SigRich

You are right handed correct. You are probably flinching (anticipating recoil)

The little gun will recoil more especially with hot loads. That compined with the shorter sight radius and smaller grip that gives you less control it will magnify what ever trigger control problems you may have.

Have someone else shoot the gun before you make any decisions or try resting it and then shoot it. Right handed shooters almost always shoot low left when they flinch.

I've run +P and standard FMJ's through mine up to ~75 Feet. I can't say I've noticed a difference on the target because it's probably me affecting the accuracy at that range. I've not noticed any difference on target under 10 yards with any of the ammo I've shoot.

That old demon Trigger Control raises its ugly head again. All of the other common bad shooting habits come in a distant second place to a lack of proper trigger control.

Sounds like you expect the recoil to be worse the the higher pressure loads and then anticipate the recoil. Do you have a shooting partner? Have him/her load up a magazine for you and mix up the rounds. He or she should record the order they are in the magazine along with where each bullet hits the target. You could also have your partner do the same test.

At 75' you wouldn't have to move your hand much to affect the shot placement by a whole lot!

Do what I did the last time I went to the range... squeeze the trigger as sloooowwww as you can. Let the shot surprise you. That way you shouldn't have to worry about flinching.

+1... Also, have them throw in a blank to see if you are jerking. They can tell you how bad you jerked when you get to that round.

I was at the range last night and was having a similar problem with my XD-9sc. I stepped away from the gun for a few minutes and went back with a better game plan. It was me all along. The gun shot low and left the first round. The second round it shot where I pointed it, even down at the end of the inside range. Ran about 100 rounds and had no malfunctions. Still think it is a very nice pistol
