Thanks Jesse. What I am hearing so far, is that is has a great grip but not stellar reliability. That and as we already brought up, a heavy out of the box trigger.

Your dept prob has the early models with the light strikes. Smith would fix them and have them 100% if your dept would have just sent them back.

Not sure where you got your info. David Bowie from BOWIE TACTICAL CONCEPTS swears by them. He uses one while on SWAT. There were problems with the early production models, mainly light strikes and a couple other tweaks. Mine has been 100% right out the box. Here in Ohio, Columbus and Cincinnati just switched to the MP. From what i hear, Columbus beat the hell out of them during testing.

Shouldn't need more than 10 rounds...that's the reason we got banned to 10 rounds only! Haha, jk man. Actually, I really don't need my 30 round AK...right now. But if SHTF, I'll be comforted by the extra few.

Actually the glock 21 holds 13 as well and it started this horse race.

More rounds is always a good thing but capacity is on the bottom of my list of priorities.

That's interesting. I'm not a fan of S&W auto's, but my department tested the M&P40. They fired 60,000 rounds through six different guns. One alone fired 2,500 rounds rapid fire in 40 minutes. None malfunctioned. The M&P40 is now the issued service sidearm. I believe sometimes it boils down to the best contract deal by the manufacturer. For personal use I compared both models. I purchased the XD over the M&P. But mine is to be used for competition. Right now the XD has more gunsmith upgrades and accessories available for the sport, simular to Glock.

I should have qualified my statement better.... XD has 13 rounds in a reasonable package.... the glock is ginormous! in my hands... (yes gentlemen, ginormous! is a word ).

My question is who says you don't need more then ten rounds? Large east coast agency measured the average shots fired in Officer involved shootings. With wheelguns it was 5.8 (so basically officers shot them dry and by the time they reloaded bad guys were gone, down...). With autos it was 8. Now to be sure, I shoot better then most cops that I have seen. But as a private citizen, I am also likely to be presented more often with more then one bad guy. I am also more likely to be alone, surprised...In force on force training (with sim rounds...) my non standard response response appears to be 3 or 4 rounds at a non concealed suspect. My hit rate is over 90 percent. Interestingly enough we have had many 1911 shooters come out of these trainings going "wow, 8 rounds is not alot". Running out of rounds when facing a 2 or 3 person Tueller Drill sucks big time. You can't reload fast enough to save yourself.

More is no substitute for marksmenship, situational awareness, and good tactics. More is, however, more and I am convinced that capacity is its own virtue.

You might want to check out some of the mall ninja threads. They will have some good suggestions for you
