Slide stop lever stiff on Xd tac 40

I just picked up a brand new Xd tactical 40 today and have yet to shoot it. Will be putting 500 or so down range tomorrow to get ready for competition next week.

The slide stop lever is freggin stiff. Almost to the point that its gonna slow me down on reloads. How many rounds appox down range before it loosens up?

Sorry for the newbie post, but my experience with Xd's so far has been putting about 50 rounds or so threw swatkins13's XD 45 tactical he had. Never really got down and dirty with it as it was his baby

Yeah mine was really stiff as well to the point that it was painfull to flip it. I'd say mine loosened up nicely after 500. As I'm sure you know, the metal needs to get polished down through use. Of course my slide release lever had a crack/stress fracture in it so I sent it back to SA for a replacement. Hopefully SA will tell me what the think caused the crack.

I'm of the opinion that it won't hurt to "dry" rack the slide. That way you can smooth things out a little quicker. Although it sounds like you will have that covered putting 500 through it. Have fun!

It's a "slide stop lever" not a "slide release lever". Rack the gun and release slide to load and the slide stop lever won't matter for loading.

If you insist on using the slide stop lever to load the XD (as admittedly the manual states) you'll find that it is much easier to release with a full mag than without a mag or with an empty mag.

My bad. I knew that acutally.

I know it releases better by racking the slide, but in competition shooting thats one extra step that will slow me down. Now for combat shooting I use the tap rack bang drill. LEO 7 years.

I only asked as my Sigs and Glocks always seemed eaiser to drop the lever than the XD. First one ive ever owned.
