Barrel Accuracy after +15K rnds
I was at the range today and I notice my XD45tac has lost it's accuracy at 25 yards. Its like the accuracy diminishes starting at 20 yards. Although I did not fire it on a bench, what I did was check my own accuracy (operator error) and the gun itself (dirt, oil, spring, etc). I fired my SA 1911 with match grade barrel and I can hit the mark at 25 yds 90% of the time. They both have the same sights and orientation as checked with my laser bore sighter. My question is this, does a barrel have a life span after so many rounds fired through it? I've fired more than 15K rounds through this since 08/06... any input is appreciated...

A gun is a machine... Any machine takes wear as it's used...
BUT, after 15,000 rounds the barrel shouldn't be so worn that accuracy should be effected... More likely human error, or a bad day.. Everyone's had them. If ever in doubt, bench it!

I would say, if you can afford to put 15000 rounds thru the gun--you can afford a NEW barrel and not worry anymore.
Not being pissy here, Just think about it. What's a barrel cost? $150? 15000 rounds of 45 ACP costs (now) $4500. "Buy the barrel, Aunt Bee, buy the barrel." I would also contact manufacturer for barrel longevity.

$0 if it's bad enough.

Oh, yes, I forgot to say, SA is Excellent on their warranty. They took care of my ported XD slide crack problem with professional precision!
IF there's some problem with the barrel, they'll make it right. Just keep in mind, 15k rounds is sh*t load of rounds!!!

My local dealer here sold on average of 500-600 thousand dollars worth of Montana Gold bullets a year for several years. He had way to many people complaining of barrels not lasting as long as they should. Montana Gold bullets are about 30% harder metal than most standard FMJ's I verified this with Montana Gold to which they replied there bullets are harder than most. g10
