Question regarding primer indent
Greetings all, I'm new to this forum and a proud owner of a tactical model in .40cal. I've put about 500 rds. through it but have noticed a very slight primer wipe on every rd. It almost looks like a glock primer strike. Any suggestions or observations would be appreciated. or should I not be concerned?

Normal, don't worry about it.

I have the XD-9 service, and my pistol has actually punched right through some of my primers, and most I picked up today had the wipe on them too...

Thank's guy's. I thought I might have to change hammer and/or recoil springs, but if this is somewhat normal I can live with it....

Both my XD and that of my friend do this. It's an effect of the slide actuating "prematurely." I've fired off a few primer blanks (no power or bullet) and the strike is always a clean point.

I own about 15 different semi-auto pistols, including 4 XD's, and they all have primer swipe to some degree. It's caused by the slide starting to unlock, which causes the barrel and chamber to move, before the firing pin has fully retracted. It's a normal occurance in this type of firearm.
Hope this helps. Fred
